As many of you who own agriculture land know, you must prove income on your farmland or risk losing your tax deferred status - to the tune of thousands of $$$ in back taxes.  A better option is available …. It’s called silvopasture - or the combination of growing both pasture and trees - and you can be in the Timberland classification and forget about proving income.  And if it done right, it doesn’t cost much - $350-$500 per acre – depending on the pasture.  The payback is not just tax savings. A fir stand will yield $10,000 /acre in 40 years.. an 8% return on investment!
